| 520 | |a<p>This article analyses the iconographic construction of the image of the Spanish Nation at two different times: the first centennial and the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the beginning of its Independence War (May 2nd of 1808). Not all the images created at those times are analyzed, just the ones representing the monarchical and conservative ideology, which were appropriately featured at the ABC newspaper. The analysis is based on the photographs and drawings published there during the days that followed the celebrations. The aim of this text is, on the one hand, to detect, study and find out the ideological meaning of the iconographic items; and, on the other, to appreciate the differences in the use of the commemoration at two different historical and political times.</p> |
